Today marks the formalization of a new collaboration between the Order of Malta Lebanon and Debbané Frères, aimed at strengthening sustainable agriculture and supporting farmers across Lebanon through practical, long-term impact initiatives.
This partnership is designed to expand access to high-quality grafted seedlings, improve agricultural productivity, and reinforce sustainable farming practices in rural communities. By combining technical expertise with field-based humanitarian engagement, the collaboration seeks to address key challenges faced by farmers, particularly in relation to productivity, resilience, and food security.
A core component of this initiative will be the enhancement of farmer support systems, ensuring that agricultural communities benefit from improved inputs, guidance, and continuous technical assistance. This includes the development of structured training programs focused on modern farming techniques, climate-adaptive practices, and efficient resource management.
In addition, the partnership will contribute to strengthening agricultural value chains, helping farmers move beyond production toward improved processing, packaging, and market access. This approach aims to create more sustainable income opportunities while reinforcing local economic stability.
Research and development will also play a central role in this collaboration, with joint efforts directed toward improving seed quality, increasing crop resilience, and promoting innovation in agricultural practices adapted to Lebanon’s diverse environmental conditions.
Through this initiative, the Order of Malta Lebanon and Debbané Frères reaffirm a shared commitment to empowering rural communities, enhancing food security, and promoting a more sustainable and resilient agricultural sector across the country.
