New Specialized Mobile Medical Units: Bringing Healthcare Closer to those in Need
The Order of Malta Lebanon inaugurated four new Specialized Mobile Medical Units during an official ceremony held at its Community Health Center in Ain al-Remmaneh, reaffirming its commitment to bringing accessible and dignified healthcare to vulnerable and underserved communities across Lebanon.
The inauguration took place in the presence of Rakan Nassereddine, Chiyah Municipality Mayor Edmond Gharios, representatives from the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta, United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon and MTC4L, the Imam Sadr Foundation, as well as the Apostolic Nuncio to Lebanon, Paolo Borgia, who led a special blessing for the new units.
The newly launched units specialize in cardiology, dentistry, pediatrics, and women’s health, and will join the organization’s existing fleet of eight Mobile Medical Units already serving communities throughout the country. Equipped to provide high-quality medical consultations, screenings, and preventive care, these units aim to bridge healthcare gaps for people facing limited access to medical services.
This initiative was made possible through the support of the German Foreign Office and Malteser International, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening healthcare access in Lebanon amid ongoing social and economic challenges.
Operated by the dedicated medical teams of the Order of Malta Lebanon, the Specialized Mobile Medical Units represent another important step toward ensuring integrated, inclusive, and patient-centered healthcare for all, regardless of location or circumstance.
